Scholarship Description:

PI Yiyu Cai, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Jilin University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and received his Ph.D. in 2019 from the Department of Chemistry, Rice University, USA, focusing on single nanoparticle spectroscopy of photogenerated heat carriers in surface-isolated excitation nanostructures under the Ph.D. supervision of Prof Stephan Link. During his postdoctoral period, he worked in the group of Prof. Cherie Kagan in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, in the field of micronanofabrication and self-assembly of optical materials.

In January 2024, Dr Cai will join the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering of Macau University of Science and Technology and the Institute of Science and Technology of Macau University of Science and Technology in Zhuhai as an Assistant Professor. He is the first author of 29 papers in Adv. Mater. Chem., Nano Lett., ACS Nano, ACS Energy Lett. and other journals with more than 1300 citations. His current research interests include single nanoparticle spectroscopy, preparation of optical materials and devices by micro- and nanofabrication and self-assembly methods, hot carrier catalysis and photocatalytic mechanism studies. The group will have laboratories in both Hengqin, Zhuhai and Taipa, Macau, and we welcome all young talents to join us!
