Vanderbilt University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is a prestigious private research institution known for its innovative biomedical research and medical education.
Dr. Meltzer’s research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of mammalian somatosensory development and function, utilizing transcriptomics, imaging, mouse genetics, physiology, and behavior. This research aims to provide insights for treating nerve injuries, pain, and somatosensory dysfunctions.
Candidates are expected to present their work at lab meetings and publish their findings.
Dr. Meltzer completed her postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School in David Ginty’s lab. She earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCSF, studying Drosophila sensory neuron development under Yuh Nung Jan, and holds an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and Philosophy from Peking University.
She has received several prestigious awards, including the HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellowship, NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, UCSF Chancellor’s Award for Advancement of Women, and Grass Foundation Trustee Recognition Award, acknowledging her outstanding research and science outreach.
