Scholarship: Fully-funded
Degree: Bachelor, Master, Ph.D
Nationality: International Students
Location: China
Application deadlines: Open
Scholarship Description:
Multiple postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Xi Chen’s laboratory at the Department of Experimental Therapeutics and the James P. Allison Institute, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
The Chen lab investigates how cancer and its immune microenvironment sense and respond to stress and therapeutic challenges, allowing them to evade immune surveillance and develop drug resistance. Our specialties include cancer immunology, ER stress, innate immunity, cancer biology, biochemistry, and preclinical models.
Notable publications include Cell (2024, PMID: 39419025), Science (2023, PMID: 37676964), Nature Cell Biology (2020, PMID: 32958856), Nature Reviews Cancer (2021, PMID: 33214692), and Nature (2014, PMID: 24670641). Our mechanism-driven studies have led to a first-in-human clinical trial of an IRE1a RNase inhibitor and received FDA Fast Track Designation.
The Chen lab offers a supportive, interdisciplinary training environment with unique career development opportunities. Many former postdocs have become Tenure Track Assistant Professors or Independent PIs in the U.S. and abroad, receiving prestigious awards like the CPRIT Scholar Award.
Our research aims to clarify the significance and mechanisms of stress responses in anti-tumor immunity and therapy resistance, developing novel therapies to manage cancer as a chronic disease. For details, please refer to our representative publications.
