Scholarship Description:
The Biomedical Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is hiring a postdoctoral researcher for Dr. Andrew Modzelewski’s lab (Modz Lab).
This lab focuses on elucidating the role of retrotransposons in early mammalian development and disease. Research centers on the impact of retrotransposons on mouse reproduction and pre-implantation development, using comparative biology to better understand mechanisms related to human health, reproduction, aging, and disease (see Modzelewski et al., Cell 2021; Modzelewski et al., Nature Cell Biology 2022; Guo et al., Trends in Genetics 2024).
Dr. Andrew Modzelewski’s pioneering research on retrotransposon function has received the NIH K99 Pathway to Independence Award, NIH R35 Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award, and funding from Beckman, Searle, and Packard foundations.
The lab has ample funding and is a leader in the field, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
