Scholarship Description:
The University of Louisville (UofL) is a public research university located in Louisville, Kentucky. Established in 1798, it was the first public university founded by a city in the United States and is one of the first universities west of the Allegheny Mountains. Originally a public institution funded by the city government in the 1970s, it later joined the university system. UofL has three campuses: Belknap, Health Sciences, and Shelby.
The university is designated by the Kentucky legislature as an “Outstanding Metropolitan Research University” and classified as a “Research 1 (R1)” institution by Carnegie, indicating a very high level of research activity. UofL attracts students from 118 counties in Kentucky, all 50 states, and 116 countries worldwide, offering over 200 degree programs, including more than 70 undergraduate majors, 78 master’s programs, and 22 doctoral programs.
The UofL Health Sciences Center plays a crucial role in providing essential medical services to the community while conducting significant research into the causes of diseases. - Using human samples and rodent models to understand the impacts of dietary-factor interactions with gut microbiota on immune regulation in obesity-related fatty liver disease.
Eligibility criteria:
- Potential candidates should have Ph.D. or M.D. degree and strong background in microbiology, cell immunology and inflammation. Practical experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques and animal tumor models is required. Expertise in flow cytometry and bioinformatic analysis is desirable.
