Scholarship Description:
Dr. Jinzhuang Dou will join the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science (DBIDS) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in June 2025.
He is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for his lab, focused on statistical genomics.
Dr. Dou has contributed to several prestigious international research initiatives, including the Singapore 10,000 Genomes Project (SG10K), Human Cell Atlas (HCA), Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN), and the Cancer Moonshot Initiative at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
His research has been published as first or co-first author in top-tier journals, including Nature Biotechnology, Cell, Science Advances, Genome Biology, and Briefings in Bioinformatics. In 2023, he received the “Wall of Science” award from MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Eligibility criteria:
- Strong Background in Human Genetics: Academic or research experience in human genetics, biostatistics, and related fields is required. Expertise in processing UK Biobank/TOPMed genomics data and analyzing bulk and single-cell genomic data is highly desirable.
- Computational and Technical Skills: Proficient in R, Python, and Shell scripting. Experience with Linux servers, including batch job submissions and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
