Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School are seeking postdoctoral researchers.

Scholarship: Fully-funded
Degree: Ph.D
Nationality: International Students
Location: USA
Application deadlines: Open

Scholarship Description:

Dr. Haobo Li’s laboratory in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow with training in molecular biology and small animal work, preferably in cardiovascular and/or aging research.

Located in the Edwards Research Building on the Boston campus, the lab investigates mechanisms driving aging, vascular and heart disease, and cerebral disease through genetic, pharmacological, and physiological (i.e., exercise) interventions.

The selected candidate will join a talented group of basic and clinical scientists whose work has direct translational applications linked to potential novel therapeutics. They will also be integrated into the exceptional biomedical research environment at MGH and Harvard Medical School, participating in collaborations with the Broad Institute, MIT, and the Boston Pepper Center.

Available Subjects:

  • 1. Cardiac dysfunction in cardiometabolic diseases;
  • 2. Mechanisms of age-related cardiac and cerebral diseases.

Eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate will be mentored by Dr. Haobo Li, PhD, and fully supported by NIH funding.
  • Projects will focus on investigating fundamental mechanisms of biological aging that contribute to frailty, cardiovascular disease, and cerebral disease. These projects will build on the lab’s recent publications (Li et al., Circulation, 2022; Li et al., Circulation Research, 2020; Kang et al., AJP-Heart, 2024), which identified long noncoding RNAs and age-related biological pathways involved in cardiac aging, frailty, and heart failure.
  • Scientific investigations will involve work with human biospecimens, preclinical animal models, and cell culture. The fellowship will provide extensive training in advanced molecular biology techniques, high-throughput transcriptomic and proteomic screening, viral vectors, transgenic models, exercise and cardiac physiology (including echocardiography and exercise testing), and small animal heart failure models (both pharmacological and surgical interventions).

Application Procedure:

If interested in the position, please email a cover letter, CV, and three references to Dr. Haobo Li (email: [email protected]).
