Scholarship Description:

Dr. Chenyuan Wu will join the Computer Science Department at City University of Hong Kong as an assistant professor and PhD supervisor in Spring 2025. He is looking to recruit 1-2 PhD students and research assistants.

Dr. Wu earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, studying under Professor Boon Thau Loo, the senior associate dean of the School of Engineering. He has published nine top conference/journal papers in computer systems and databases, including NSDI, VLDB, and ToN, and has received the NSDI 2024 Best Paper Award and the EDBT 2020 Best Paper Award. He maintains close collaborations with leading scholars in blockchain consensus, such as ACM Fellow Professor Dahlia Malkhi, and experts in intelligent databases like Professor Ryan Marcus. Dr. Wu also has strong ties with several Web3 startups (e.g., Chainlink Labs, SpaceCoin, Lyquor Labs) and major companies such as Huawei, Alibaba Cloud, and ByteDance.



 Available Subjects:

Blockchain, AI for systems, and distributed systems, aiming to build AI-driven next-generation adaptive decentralized systems.



Eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Electronic Information from a reputable university, either domestically or internationally.
  • Strong coding and hands-on skills are required.
  • My personal approach is non-pushy, so I hope applicants are self-motivated and have a strong passion for research.
  • Preferred Qualifications: High GPA, competition experience, participation in large open-source projects, or publications of high-quality papers are advantages.
  • Students interested in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship are especially welcome.
