Scholarship: Fully-funded
Degree: Bachelor, Master, Ph.D
Nationality: International Students
Location: USA
Application deadlines: Open
Scholarship Description:
Dr. Yuchi Qiu joined the UIC Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and the Center for Bioinformatics and Quantitative Biology (CBQB) as an assistant professor in 2025. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Nanjing University in 2014 and earned his PhD in mathematics from the University of California, Irvine in 2020. He has held postdoc positions at Michigan State University and UC Irvine, focusing on the intersection of computational biology and artificial intelligence.
His lab integrates mathematical modeling, systems biology, and AI methods to model spatio-temporal dynamics in single-cell data, exploring cell fate decisions and cell-cell communication and their regulatory mechanisms. The lab also investigates the application of AI and large language models (LLMs) in protein design. Research findings have been published in journals such as Nature Computational Science, Nature Machine Intelligence, and Developmental Cell.
The lab collaborates closely with experimental and computational teams, benefiting from rich multi-omics data resources and advanced computational facilities. Candidates interested in computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, machine learning, or mathematical modeling are encouraged to apply.
