Scholarship Description:
Dr. Mengshan Ye will join the Department of Chemistry at Vanderbilt University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in August 2025. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China and earned her PhD in Chemistry from MIT under the supervision of Professor Daniel L. M. Suess. She conducted postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley with Professor Jeffrey R. Long.
Dr. Ye has received the Guo Moruo Scholarship from USTC and the Miller Postdoctoral Fellowship from UC Berkeley. Her research areas include bioinorganic chemistry, physical inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, and lanthanide chemistry, with multiple publications in journals such as JACS and Nature Chemistry.
Her research group focuses on developing innovative inorganic synthesis methods and precisely controlling metal-metal and spin-spin interactions in molecular systems to reveal new reactivity and electronic structure properties. This work aims to advance fields such as bioinorganic chemistry, catalysis, lanthanide chemistry, and quantum information science, contributing to fundamental scientific exploration and global sustainable development.
For more information, visit the group’s homepage: Ye Group.
